IIT Palakkad conducted One-Day Workshop on Counselling, Ethics, and Safety for Railway Safety Councillors and Senior Supervisors Palakkad Division
As per the request of the Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, IIT Palakkad conducted a one-day workshop at its Teaching Learning Centre for Railway Safety Councillors and Senior Supervisors Palakkad Division. The programme was attended by 20 supervisors from the Safety, Civil Engineering, Mechanical, S&T, Electrical, and Operations Departments.
The session was inaugurated by Sri Jayakrishnan, IRSEE, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, who addressed the participants. Mr. Benny Varghese, IRSSE, Senior Divisional Safety Officer, led the team and delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was coordinated by Mr. K. M. Unni, Advisor, IIT Palakkad.
In the forenoon session, Dr. Tessy Grace Mathews and Ms. Arya Aravind conducted interactive counselling sessions focusing on communication skills, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Prof. Sundararajan handled a session on Ethics of Management, discussing the roles of employees in professional organisations, workplace conflicts and their resolution, teamwork, and methods to motivate subordinates, supported by relevant case studies.
Prof. Mayank Tiwari delivered a session on safety in engineering operations, emphasizing the importance of strict adherence to safety procedures. He highlighted the significance of practices like Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) to prevent accidents arising from uncontrolled energy sources.
The workshop also included a campus visit and was well received by all participants for its practical relevance and interactive approach
