Hands-on Workshop on Plant System Modelling held at IIT Palakkad

IIT Palakkad hosted an intensive hands-on workshop on Plant System Modelling, bringing together 25 enthusiastic students from across India. The week-long program aimed to equip participants with the tools and techniques required to model plant systems across scales — from individual leaves to entire ecosystems.
The workshop focused on R programming and introduced participants to advanced modelling frameworks such as BioCro and pHydro, enabling them to simulate complex physiological and ecological processes.
Sessions were led by distinguished experts in the field, including Dr. Jaideep Joshi ,IIT Bombay; Dr. Venkataraman, IIT Madras; Dr. Anirban Guha and Dr. Sanu Sameer, IISER Thiruvananthapuram and Dr. Deepak Jaiswal, IIT Palakkad. A notable highlight of the workshop was a field visit to the experimental Miyawaki Forest on the IIT Palakkad campus.
