Industry Leaders Come Together at IIT Palakkad TechConnect in Coimbatore

Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad (IIT Palakkad) along with its Sec-8 companies, IIT Palakkad Technology IHub Foundation (IPTIF) and Technology Innovation Foundation of IIT Palakkad (TECHIN), hosted"IIT Palakkad Tech Connect @ Coimbatore", a first ever Industry connect event at The Residency Tower, Coimbatore. The event saw participation from over 70 industries and Industry associations with more than 100 industry delegates. The discussion focused majorly on industry-academia collaboration for fostering technology innovation in the region in line with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Vision 2047 of Govt. of India.

Prof. A Seshadri Sekhar, Director, IIT Palakkad presided over the function and detailed IIT Palakkad’s vision for “Design & Manufacture in India” in his opening remarks. Prof Santhakumar, Dean, Industry Collaboration and Sponsored Research (ICSR) introduced the strength of IIT Palakkad’s faculties, facilities, activities and avenues for collaboration. The event had Air Commodore Vishnu Gaur, Air Commanding Officer from 5 BRD, Sulur, as the Guest of Honour. “The industries in the region should join hands with IIT Palakkad to take up challenging problem statements towards indigenization of technologies to reduce the import-dependency, especially in the defense sector”, he said. The other key speakers for the evening were Shri N P Naik IOFS, CGM, Cordite Factory Aruvankadu, Ms. Hemalatha Annamalai, Founder Ampere EV and Mr.Mithun Ramdas, President, SIEMA. The speakers highlighted the opportunity for Industry in Coimbatore to work with IIT Palakkad in Automation, upskilling and collaborative R&D. An expert industry panel, representing leading industries, moderated by Dr.Arvind Ajoy, Associate-Dean, ICSR discussed various aspects of the topic IIT Palakkad- A partner in bridging Industry Research. 

An MoU between IIT Palakkad and Foundries Development Foundation, Coimbatore was signed during the event for collaboration in research and technology development. IIT Palakkad TechConnect opened doors for Industries to discuss potential partnerships with IIT Palakkad in multiple domains. The evening concluded with a networking dinner, providing a platform for industry delegates to connect with the IIT Palakkad Team and discuss new opportunities for collaboration.
