IIT Palakkad Hosts Second Indo-Norway Workshop on Sensing, Communication, and Control Systems for Industrial Automation
In a bid to foster collaboration and exchange of knowledge, IIT Palakkad, in partnership with the University of Agder (UiA), Norway, successfully organized the second Indo-Norway Workshop on "Sensing, Communication, and Control Systems for Industrial Automation Applications (IN-SCOCOS)" at the campus today. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Prof. Folke Haugland, Head of Department, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), University of Agder, Norway.
The hybrid workshop, supported by the Research Council of Norway and The Norwegian Agency for International Cooperation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education (Diku), attracted a diverse audience of 300 participants, including faculty and students from various colleges in and around Palakkad and Coimbatore.
IN-SCOCOS 2024 delved into key research challenges in advanced control, robotics, smart sensing, the Internet of things, machine learning, and deep learning for the development of resource-efficient smart automation systems. The workshop served as a platform for researchers, industries, and practitioners to showcase and discuss advancements in Sensing, Communication, and Control Systems for Industrial Automation Applications.
The event also marked the initiation of the INMOST project - Indo-Norwegian Collaboration in Intelligent Offshore Mechatronics Systems. This long-term collaboration involves esteemed Indian institutions such as the National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa), Indian Institute of Technology, Tirupati, Indian Institute of Technology, Palakkad, and Indian Institute of Technology, Indore, along with Norwegian Universities - University of Agder (UiA) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and Norwegian Research Center (NORCE) for world-class research and education.
The event featured eight technical talks and three demonstrations, including Networked Control System Experiments Using SDRs, WiFi-Based Human Sensing, and more. The day concluded with participants engaging in valuable interactions with the researchers from UiA, Norway, and IIT Palakkad, promoting a collaborative exchange of insights and expertise.
The speakers include Prof. Linga Reddy Cenkeramaddi, Dr. Ajit Jha and Dr.Dinsha Vinod from University of Agder, Norway, Mr. N.Raghunath, Architect, Nokia Solutions, Dr. M. Sabarimalai Manikandan, Dr. Shaikshavali Chitraganti, Dr. Narayanan C Krishnan, Ms. Athira Mullachery, Prof. Santhakumar Mohan, Mr. Ayyappadas Rajagopal, Mr. Asit Kumar Panda from IIT Palakkad.
