Academic activities commenced at Sahyadri Campus

As the incoming batch of 2023 gears up to start their academic journey here, Sahyadri campus of IIT Palakkad begins its functioning in full swing. The new campus is named Sahyadri as a tribute to the Western Ghats that surround the campus on 504 acres. From now on classes will be fully functional from Nila and Sahyadri campus.
Designed with sustainability at its core, the construction seamlessly merges modernity with nature's tranquility and prioritizes eco-friendly practices.
The Sahyadri Campus adopts renewable sources of energy alongside innovative waste management systems and efficient water conservation facilities, aiming to attain a net-zero carbon footprint.. This visionary approach not only highlights the institution's dedication to environmental stewardship but also establishes a motivating example for future generations.
The academic block aka Saraswathi block of the campus boasts a spacious classroom complex capable of accommodating 2,000 students. In addition, department buildings,  central fabrication facility, heavy machinery lab, research complex, and large infrastructure testing lab provide students with cutting-edge resources for their academic pursuits. The campus also offers state-of-the-art studio classrooms, equipped with advanced facilities such as multi-camera recording, lightboard recording, chroma-keying, live-streaming, and web-based video conferencing and editing. Furthermore, a digitalized central library with a vast collection of approximately 7,000 printed and digital resources is readily accessible to both faculty and students. To provide the comfort of home, the campus is equipped with well-appointed rooms and top-notch amenities.
