IIT Palakkad starts Vocational Training Program to Empower Students from Attapadi
IIT Palakkad has taken a significant step towards making a positive impact on the lives of youths in Attapadi by launching a vocational training program as part of its outreach initiatives. The program, aims to empower higher secondary graduates, began with the inaugural address by Prof. A Seshadri Sekhar, Director of IIT Palakkad.
A total of 20 students from the Mele Aanavyi Ooru in Attapadi are selected to participate in this first round of training. These students, who successfully cleared their 12th-grade examinations, will now embark on a journey of hands-on learning in networking, electrical, and mechanical modules.
During the inaugural address, Prof. Sesadri Sekhar urged the students to dream big and seize the opportunity to enhance their skills. He emphasized the importance of effective communication and encouraged the participants to work on improving this vital aspect of their personal and professional lives.
The vocational training program aims to equip the students with a diverse set of skills, including basic carpentry, plumbing, welding techniques, and IT proficiency. To ensure an optimal learning experience, the participants will have access to the top-notch resources available at IIT Palakkad. Moreover, transportation and accommodation have been arranged within the campus premises, enabling the students to fully immerse themselves in the training.
The decision to launch this program was preceded by a visit to Attapadi by a team led by Professor A. Seshadri Sekhar, accompanied by District Collector Dr. S Chitra. This initiative reflects the commitment to social upliftment through education. By imparting practical skills to the students of Attapadi, IIT Palakkad aims to contribute to their personal growth and increase their employability prospects.
