CSE Colloquium on Feb1 graced by eminent Computer Scientist Prof. Saket Saurabh
The first colloquium of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Palakkad was delivered by Prof. Saket Saurabh, Professor of Theoretical Computer Science at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai and the Department of Informatics, University of Bergen on February 1, 2023. The talk titled 'Selecting Vertices at Random' explained algorithms that are based on picking a vertex at random and declaring it to be a part of the solution, a strategy that has been deployed in many state-of-the-art parameterized, exact exponential time, and approximation algorithms. Prof. Saket is an awardee of the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in Mathematical Sciences in 2021 and he is known for his fundamental contributions to the area of parameterized complexity including procedures for obtaining algorithmic lower bounds, and meta-theorems on preprocessing.
