Centre for Computational Imaging at IIT Palakkad inaugurated
Envisioned as a research centre to cover all aspects of computational imaging, covering the full spectrum of imaging (Electromagnetic Spectrum and Audio Spectrum), and all aspects of Engineering (RF Sensors & Antenna Design, Computational Software Design and Hardware Acceleration), the Centre for Computational Imaging is a first of its kind research centre in the country. The Centre has a partnership with the IIT Palakkad Technology IHub Foundation (IPTIF) in its journey towards achieving the objectives of Translational Research in Computational Imaging, Prototyping of Imaging Systems and Consultancy and Community Support.
Following the inauguration of the Centre by Prof. P. B. Sunil Kumar at 9.30am today, an Introduction to the Centre was provided by Dr. Mahesh R Panicker and Inaugural address by Prof. P. B. Sunil Kumar. A Keynote Talk on the occasion was delivered by Prof. Ananjan Basu, Professor and Head, Centre for Applied Research in Electronics (CARE), IIT Delhi. This was followed by another Keynote Talk by Dr. Rakesh Mullick, Chief Scientist, Advanced Technology Group, Edison AI & Platforms, GE Healthcare Digital. Interaction of students and faculty with the speakers was then facilitated and an opportunity to experience imaging at the Centre for Computational Imaging (Workshop 3, Manogatha Building, Nila Campus, IIT Palakkad) was thrown open.
