SPICMACAY IIT Palakkad Chapter re-commenced its activities after a long gap with a melodious evening of Sufi Qawwali by Ustad Ateeq Hussain Khan Bandanawazi Al-Hashmi. An invigorated and joyful Institute community was regaled by the music of Ustad Ateeq Hussain Khan, a Hindustani Qawwal from Hyderabad who performs Bandish, Thumri, Bhajan and Tarana Ghazal among others, in Hindustani Classical Music. The son of renowned Hindustani singer Iqubal Hussain Khan Bandanawazi of Gwaliar Gharana, Ustaad Ateeq's Qawwali group is known as Bandanawazi Qawwal. The group received the Sangeet Ratna Samman from the Maharashtra Art & Culture Department. The Agora Auditorium, Nila Campus witnessed this musical repast on Wednesday, August 24th, 2022 from 5:30 pm onwards.
