While the immediate consequences of COVID-19 have been well described, the long-term effects of COVID-19 in the recovered patients are not yet elaborated. Prof. Jagadeesh Bayry is a part of the international consortium to identify research priorities in order to understand the long-term sequelae of COVID-19 in the population with pre-existing and new on-set airways diseases including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. The consortium has identified the prognosis scores as the main area of future investigation. Emphasis was also laid on the prevalence and severity of post-COVID-19 fatigue, anxiety, depression, and risk of cardiovascular complications in such patients. This position paper is recently published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine journal along with an editorial commentary.
