In-Frame A theme-based photography contest
With the pandemic round the corner and everyone stuck in their homes. Shutterbug decided to give an opportunity to capture the moments via their cameras. In Frame, a theme-based photography contest was conducted by Shutterbug. With the covid constraints and the barrier of not able to capture the beauty of the outside world, shutterbug had set the themes in such a way that the photographers could get their shots within the four walls of their homes. The club members shared their suggestions on the themes and finally the decided themes were Object or gadget photography, shadows and indoor games. The participants had to choose any one of the themes from the three. The details of the contest were published on 16th of July and the participants were given a span of ten days to get their shots ready. Meanwhile the shutterbug Instagram page kept providing the complete explanation along with sample photographs of the themes, so that the participants get a clear idea about the themes and perform better. The contest ended with 76 entry submissions from 23 different participants. All being equally different and creative in their respective themes. The judge for the contest was Jufel D Almaida, former Shutterbug club head and an alumnus of IIT Palakkad. Shutterbug goes with the motto of spreading the knowledge of photography and encouraging the art of capturing, which was both possible via the contest in a span of fifteen days. The best three were chosen and the results were announced on 31st of July. The first prize was bagged by Saumil Gupta, a Btech first year student. Second to Akhil MV, also a first-year student. Third to Bhavana Sharma, a Mtech student of batch 20. The prize-winning photographs were published on the shutterbug Instagram handle showcasing the talents of the students of IIT Palakkad to the outside world. Hence, winding up the competition.
