Student Solar Ambassador Workshop- 2024

Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary on 2nd October is also celebrated as International Non-Violence Day. To commemorate this occasion, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Palakkad, along with Energy swaraj foundation is organizing a Solar Ambassador Workshop (SAW), which aims to provide participants with hands-on experience in solar technology, highlighting the significance of solar energy in mitigating climate change.

This one-day interactive workshop allows participants to explore solar energy technologies, test technical components, and assemble their own solar study lamps. At the conclusion of the event, participants pledge non-violence towards the environment and take home the solar study lamps assembled by them. These solar lamps can be used in their daily lives, given as gifts, or donated to someone in their community in need. 50 students from five neighbouring Government schools have been selected for the workshop.
