Human Library (in association with Human Library Organisation Denmark)

A human library is a unique library where you can check out humans as living books, listen to their stories, and interact with them. The motive is to create positive environments that allow people to challenge prejudice and stereotypes through dialogue.

HUMAN LIBRARY  make available individuals (referred to as "books") from several stigmatised groups, including those based on ethnicity, religion, sexuality, occupation, social status, lifestyle, health, and disability. Readers choose books from a catalogue, and the "reading" involves the books sharing their narratives and life experiences with a group of readers, followed by interaction.

The initiative's motive is to help people learn to appreciate individual differences and understand the dynamics of social and institutional barriers, stigma and discrimination that are powerful determinants of mental distress, including deaths by suicide.
