AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Programme on 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing (July–December 2026)
The AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Programme on 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing is a 6-month hybrid (18-credit) faculty development programme offered by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Palakkad, under the AICTE Quality Improvement Programme (QIP), with the support of the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), IIT Palakkad. The programme is designed to equip engineering faculty members with advanced knowledge, practical skills, and pedagogical tools in the rapidly evolving field of Additive Manufacturing.
The programme covers 3D printing fundamentals, CAD and digital manufacturing workflows, Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM), polymer and metal additive manufacturing, process simulation, powder handling, post-processing, inspection and quality assurance, along with emerging areas such as AI/ML and digital twins in Additive Manufacturing.
A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on learning through intensive laboratory sessions at IIT Palakkad’s dedicated 3D Printing Laboratory, equipped with industrial-grade metal and polymer 3D printers, including EOS M290 and Ultimaker systems, supported by advanced CAD, simulation and slicing software.
The programme combines online instruction with on-campus laboratory training, expert interactions, and project-based learning, enabling participants to apply AM technologies to practical problems and develop capabilities for teaching, research, and innovation.
