'Saving Bodies, Saving Souls': HSS Department Hosts Third Thematic Exploration Series Talk

The Humanities and Social Science department at IIT Palakkad hosted  third talk in the thematic exploration series on ‘The Caste and Gender Question in India.’ Dr. Divya Kannan, Assistant Professor of History and Archaeology at Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR, delivered a lecture titled ‘Saving Bodies, Saving Souls.’

The talk delved into the dynamics of missionary education for poor, 'untouchable caste' girls in colonial Kerala, shedding light on how British Protestant missionaries shaped educational experiences that reinforced existing caste and gender hierarchies.
