Information Design for Positive Social Outcomes- Pale Blue Dot Lecture Series at IIT Palakkad

IIT Palakkad hosted the eighth lecture in its Pale Blue Dot Public Lecture Series. The event, organized in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Association of Government Engineering College Palakkad, Government Moyan Model Girls Higher Secondary School, and the Palakkad District Public Library, was held on the 25th of October. The guest of honour for the session was Prof. Rajesh Sundaresan, Professor of Electrical Communication Engineering, an Associate Faculty at the Robert Bosch Centre for Cyber-Physical Systems, and the current Dean of the Division of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Sciences at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. The lecture explored how effective information design can positively impact social outcomes, drawing insights from real-world examples such as traffic light systems, ride-hailing apps, e-commerce product ratings, and fundraising initiatives. It demonstrated how mathematics and design principles can enhance social well-being.
