IIT Palakkad’s Outreach Program Enlightens Students from Government College, Chittur
As part of IIT Palakkad's outreach activities, a group of 25 students from the Department of Physics at Government College, Chittur, recently visited our campus. During their visit, they enjoyed the campus tour and attended an enlightening session on various higher education and research opportunities available within the IIT system.
Following the introductory session, the students explored the Physics Lab and the Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF) at the campus. The program included interactive demonstrations and informative sessions led by expert faculty and staff. These sessions elaborated on the principles and techniques behind the operation of advanced instruments and their significance in scientific research and technological advancements. The students had the unique opportunity to witness live demonstrations of cutting-edge equipment, including the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Raman Spectrometer, DC Probe Station, and Variable Temperature Insert (VTI).
This initiative provided students with a hands-on learning experience, showcasing the practical applications and capabilities of these sophisticated instruments.
Mr. Ramabhadran, a faculty at Government College, Chittur, expressed his appreciation for the visit, emphasizing how it allowed the students to visualize concepts that were previously only known to them theoretically. He was particularly excited about the extensive collection of sophisticated equipment available in our campus laboratories.
