Laser Diagnostic Equipment and accessories

The Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) systems are used for combustion research. The systems consist of Class 4 lasers, imaging system (camera and intensifier), laser optics, interfacing and synchronization devices, PC for data acquisition etc. The system is used for analysing combustion phenomena and the flow field. The PLIF system uses a dye laser to obtain laser radiation at different wavelengths and hence various species can be probed and measured. The PIV system provides planar information on the velocity vectors and vorticity. These systems will be used in the combustion research facility at IIT Palakkad
