Unnat Bharat Abhiyan RCI-IITPKD & IMA Palakkad Workshop

 

The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Regional Coordinating Institute (RCI),  IIT Palakkad in association with Indian Medical Association (IMA) Palakkad branch is organising a One-Day Workshop on  Substance Abuse Among Youth for teachers and students of higher educational institutions  on March 2 (Sunday) from 9 a.m - 4 p.m at the IMA Hall (Google map link), Near Fort Maidan, Palakkad. 

The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Venkata Lakshmi Narasimha, Assistant Professor, Centre for Addiction Medicine (CAM), National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru and Dr Ramanan Erat, a senior psychiatrist and former President, IMA Palakkad branch.

Bionotes:

Dr  Venkata Lakshmi Narasimha is  an assistant professor at CAM, NIMHANS. He completed his MD in Psychiatry (NIMHANS), PDF and DM in Addiction Psychiatry(CAM, NIMHANS), Bengaluru.  He has received numerous accolades including the best researcher award and best research grant award by AIIMS Deoghar, ISAM-NIDA Fellowship 2019, INEBRIA scholarship 2021. Dr Venkata is the recipient of  the Dr Ramachandra N Moorthy foundation fellowship for early career psychiatrists in 2018.

Dr Ramanan Erat is  a senior psychiatrist in Palakkad who started his practice in 1986 after completing MD Psychiatry from Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital Mumbai. He holds DPM from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal  Medical College Mumbai (1983) and MBBS from Government TD Medical College Alappuzha (1977). Dr Erat has been active in the field holding  notable positions such as President, IMA Palakkad (1994-96), President, Indian Psychiatric Society Kerala State (2000) and  Advisor, Forensic Psychiatry subcommittee, Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS).
