Low-Temperature Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM)

The nanoREV LTSTM is a specialized Low-Temperature Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM) manufactured by Quazar Technologies, designed to image material surfaces with atomic-scale precision. It operates within a wide temperature range of 80 K to 330 K, utilizing a liquid nitrogen-based cooling system to investigate material properties that emerge at low temperatures. The system distinguishes itself with a fully automated hoisting mechanism and a rotary scan head, which significantly simplifies the complex process of exchanging tips and samples in a cryogenic environment. As a non-optical instrument, it scans a sharp electrical probe across the sample surface to generate detailed topographic maps—such as the hexagonal lattice of carbon atoms—making it a critical tool for advanced research in nanotechnology and condensed matter physics
