Team SATCARD Bags First Prize in ESPC-2023!

Team Smart AgriTech Centre for Advanced Research and Development (SATCARD) from IIT Palakkad has emerged victorious, securing the first prize in the 'ENVIRONMENTAL SENSING PROJECT COMPETITION (ESPC)-2023.' This competition, organized by the University of Helsinki, Finland, and the Finnish Indian Consortia for Research and Education (FICORE), recognizes excellence in environmental sensing projects.

The winning project, "Design and Development of a Sustainable and Automated Irrigation System Based on a Multi-depth Sensor Fusion Mechanism," was mentored by Dr. Sreenath Vijayakumar, Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering and Dr. Satyajit Das, Assistant Professor, Data Science.

The project addresses the pressing issue of irrigation water conservation. Through the integration of smart technologies and pioneering methodologies, the team aims to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of irrigation systems, contributing significantly to sustainable agricultural practices. The team included Srikar Emany, MS scholar-EE, Adithya P. Rajeev, Intern-IPTIF, Sreehari V, Project Advisor, Anjali C. V. (Project Engineer-IPTIF).
