IIT Palakkad’s Department of Mathematics Organizes Advanced Instructional School
The IIT Palakkad Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the National Centre for Mathematics (NCM), organized an Advanced Instructional School (AIS) on ‘Topics in Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry’ at the campus. The AIS introduced participants to powerful tools at the interface of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry. This school also emphasized how geometric ideas, such as schemes, coherent sheaves, and cohomology, together with homological methods in commutative algebra, lead to fundamental results in the field.
Experts from various institutions, including Prof. A J Parameswaran, KSOM; Prof. Jugal K Verma, IITGN, Prof. Krishna Hanumanthu, CMI; Dr. Mitra Koley, IISER TVM; Dr. Rohith Varma, IITPKD; Dr. Sanjay Amrutiya, IITGN; Prof. Tony J. Puthenpurakkal, IITB; Dr. Vivek Mukundan, IITD, Dr. Parangama Sarkar, IITPKD spoke on various topics. The programme brought together students, researchers, and experts for an intensive series of lectures and tutorials on important themes in commutative algebra and algebraic geometry.
