IIT Palakkad Organizes STEM ON MOVE 2023 for Hands-On Exploration
IIT Palakkad, in collaboration with the IEEE Kerala chapter, IEEE MOVE INDIA, and IEEE SIGHT Kerala, organized a two-day program called "STEM ON MOVE" from October 28 to 29, 2023, on its campus. The event aimed to create an environment for learning and innovation by offering hands-on training and workshops in various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) domains. This event brought together 21 pre-university students and 12 undergraduate students from different regions of Kerala.
The program kicked off with a comprehensive training session that delved into the intricate world of Surface Mount Device (SMD) components, SMD soldering techniques, and the operation of reflow ovens and stencil applicators. Hands-on training was provided to participants in laser cutters and 3D printers, enabling undergraduate students to explore cutting-edge technology.
The STEM ON MOVE program received generous support from various sources. IIT Palakkad played a crucial role by providing access to the Csquare innovation lab and additional resources. The workshop resulted in the manufacturing of 50 solar powered mobile chargers, and all of these chargers will be sent to IEEE MOVE INDIA as a contribution to their disaster resilience initiatives.
