​​​​​​​IIT Palakkad conducted a Workshop on Sustainable Materials

A workshop on ‘Sustainable Materials’ was conducted by the Environmental Science and Sustainable Engineering Centre (ESSENCE) at IIT Palakkad. Venkataraghavan R, who is the Platform Leader of Sustainable Development at Hindustan Unilever Ltd. and an adjunct Faculty at IIT Palakkad was the resource person of the half -day workshop. The workshop provided the participants a comprehensive understanding of sustainable materials, their applications, and the intricacies involved in their supply chains. The sessions highlighted critical topics such as sustainable development goals (SDGs), the circular economy, the utilization of renewable resources, and the growing importance of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. The event saw active participation from faculty members and research scholars across various departments and was moderated by Dr. Sunitha K Nayar. The workshop fostered insightful discussions, culminating in a shared acknowledgment that sustainability is a collective responsibility.
