IIT Palakkad celebrated Hindi Diwas

IIT Palakkad celebrated Hindi Diwas, marking the occasion with cultural events and activities that highlighted the significance of Hindi as a language. As part of the celebrations, Hindi Dictation Competition was organised for the faculty and staff and Hindi Essay Writing Competition for the students. Prizes awarded to the top three winners in each category.

The concluding session began with the lighting of the lamp and the inauguration of a Book Stall featuring a collection of Hindi books. Prof. N. Lalitha, distinguished Hindi writer and Head of the Department of Languages, RVS College of Arts and Science, Sulur, Coimbatore, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Prof. A. Seshadri Sekhar, Director, IIT Palakkad presided over the event.  Dr. B. V. Ramesh, Registrar; Dr. Anish Hirwe, Chairperson, Official Language Implementation Committee (OLIC); Dr. B. Thiagarajan, Joint Registrar; members of OLIC, faculty, staff, and students were also part of the event. Dr. B. V. Ramesh welcomed the gathering, while Dr. Anish Hirwe read the message of the Minister of Education on Hindi Diwas. Cultural presentations included speeches, poem recitals, and songs. 

Prof. A. Seshadri Sekhar emphasized the value of learning multiple languages for effective communication across the country and encouraging continuous language learning. Prof. N. Lalitha, highlighted the importance of Hindi language, shared her experiences, and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of staff and students, while commending the institute’s commitment to promoting Hindi language. Prizes and certificates were presented to winners and participants by the Chief Guest. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. B. Thiagarajan and the National Anthem.
