How to stay young and healthy

In the talk, the speakers will start with positive mindset and self-care, followed by “two brain concept” and its importance. The talk will also explain the need of good diet and how to meet the diet requirements, various strengthening exercise at chair, and actual pandemic after Covid 19 and tips to curb disruptive smartphone habits, first aid measures for various situations with proper examples. Lastly, the power of yoga and other mind stress relief exercises will be presented.

 

 

About the speakers:

Dr TCR Ramakrishnan did his MBBS degree at Coimbatore Medical College, followed by an M.D. in Pediatrics at the Institute of Child Health, Madras Medical College in Chennai followed by specialization in D.M. Neurology from the Institute of Neurology, Madras Medical College. He started his career as an Assistant Professor in Neurology at Coimbatore Medical Hospital from 2006 to 2008, and later he joined at KG Hospital, Coimbatore as Neuro Physician since 2008. Now he is HOD of the Neurology Department at KG hospital.

He is a distinguished neurologist with an impressive track record of over 15 years in both clinical practice and research. He has delved into diverse neurological topics, from vertebrobasilar ectasia to the relationship between headaches and epilepsy. His research works has been published in reputable journals, including the Journal of Case Reports and Neurology India. His expertise extends to various neurological conditions, as seen in studies on vertigo, labyrinthitis, and unusual presentations of common diseases.

 

Dr. Saleem Akthar received his MBBS degree from Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Medical University and an MD in Internal Medicine from KG Hospital and Post Graduate Institute with gold medal and currently he is working as stroke physician at Neurology Department of KG hospital.

Furthermore, he has completed a Basic Course in Echocardiography from Madras Medical Mission and a fellowship in Diabetology at CMC Vellore. He started his career as Junior Resident Doctor in the Casualty Department at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital working as a Senior Resident in the Department of Neurology at KG Hospital. Notably, he has been instrumental in managing the stroke unit, showcasing exceptional expertise in the treatment of neurological conditions.

 

Both Dr Ramakrishnan and Dr Saleem are doing something extra than the normal physicians do. They spend a lot of time in medical device research and in clinical research. For example, In clinical trials assessing the efficacy and safety of TNK-TPA in Acute Ischemic Stroke, and in an international double-blinded randomised controlled trial for the effectiveness of Aspirin and Ticagrelor in the “THALES” trial.

They have started a profit free rehabilitation center in Coimbatore to meet the rehab needs of the patients and are taking part in some of the medical device research projects in collaboration with other institutes.
