Biomechanical aspects of nature

Venue: #301, Samgatha, Nila

Speaker: Prof. Navin Kumar, Professor in Mechanical Engineering, IIT Ropar

Abstract

Mechanical fundamentals are integral part of various activity in the nature. Most of the living things are using these fundamentals for their day to day activities. I will present experiments and computational simulations, for various activities of insects where they use mechanical engineering principles. I will also discuss about the major work of my laboratory related to human bone and tissue mechanics. We have shown that how some of the pathological conditions alter the tissue strength and quality. Through such studies, I hope to highlight the need for interdisciplinary research to address complex problems at the interface of clinicians and engineers.
